5 frozen treats to keep you cool this summer

The hot weather is finally here and what better way to celebrate than to indulge in a sweet frozen treat. Toronto has a vast array of great offerings from artisanal ice cream, gourmet popsicles to hand-churned gelatos. Here are five places to savour the tastes of summer.

The shop offers 100 different flavours of ice cream like Callebaut Milk Chocolate and Strawberries and Cream along with sundaes, milkshakes, and floats. Their original location is in the Beaches. To keep up with popular demand, a second shop was opened in Leslieville and a third shop in Roncesvalles this year.

When Janet Dimond launched a one-day popsicle pop-up in 2011, she had no idea that her frozen treats would become such a hit. The icy innovators are now readily available in farmers markets and are sold in retailers and restaurants across the city. They come in flavours like Pineapple Coconut Lime and Strawberry Basil Lemonade.

Bang Bang Ice Cream

A recent addition to the Ossington strip, Bang Bang serves up oversized ice cream sandwiches. The list of flavour combinations is extensive from Burnt Toffee, White Sesame, London Fog and even a Bellwoods Brewery stout. The nicest part is that you get to select what type of cookie or puff pastry you want with your ice cream.

Hibiscus
