Doing what you love in life is so important.
I’m writing this blog post just as Savour Toronto approaches it’s 3rd anniversary this month. I started the company in 2013 to provide enriching food experiences in this city. It’s been an incredible journey to see how much we’ve grown as a small company of passionate food lovers with our never ending enthusiasm for Toronto and it’s evolving food scene.
It gives me great pleasure to say we accomplished so many great milestones like being rated as a top activity in Toronto on TripAdvisor with 5-star reviews, winning the 2014 Ontario Culinary Tourism Experience Award, and being featured in countless magazine publications and media outlets as well as getting coverage from travel and food bloggers from around the world. We’ve hosted an incredible range of food tours, culinary events and edible gatherings for our guests – big and small and everything in between.
In May of 2016, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a cancer of the lymphatic system that primarily affects young adults). It was a huge shock to me along with my family, friends and colleagues. I was immediately admitted to the hospital and underwent chemotherapy just 5 days later. The treatment would last for approximately 6 months at least. Initially, some of the doctors had told me it was very unlikely for me to continue managing my business full-time as they we’re unsure about how I was going to react to the treatment or if I were to become progressively worse.
I’m so thrilled to say that despite the huge difficulties and the setbacks from battling the disease on a daily basis, I’ve continued to be an integral part of Savour Toronto. I’m deeply grateful to our amazing staff who have stepped up to deliver their utmost continued dedication, hard work and professionalism to our guests, food partners and tourism affiliates.
This experience has given me a lot of perspective and appreciation to live life to the fullest each day. I’m incredibly proud to be doing something I’m so passionate about and to share those experiences with others through the love of food.
Thank you all for making this possible. Here’s to many more awesome and enriching experiences!
